Long-awaited roof restorations are scheduled to commence at the Margaret River Hotel from February 2022.
These include the replacement of roof tiles and structural wooden beams in the ceiling cavity. The repairs will bring the Hotel’s roof engineering in line with modern standards, whilst also fixing leaks.
Many of the tiles have not been attended to since the 1980s. Incredibly, a few original tiles from the 1930s remain too, which have weathered nearly 100 years, and are in dire need of retirement.
Tiles will be replaced like-for-like in respect for the building’s heritage, by specialist roof restorers, Envelop Construction.
Anyone building in Western Australia at the moment will be aware of the labour and materials shortages facing the industry. As a result, the roof restoration works and roof painting will be staged as separate projects, the first of which we hope will take approximately six weeks.
Scaffolding will be constructed and deconstructed between stages.
We look forward to keeping you updated on this project.
